A Fly on the Wall

If you could be a fly on a wall of our home, just maybe, this is what you would have encountered in the last 12 hours:

Last night, a quiet game of cribbage between one husband and one wife. The sweet husband who is a bit off his "A-game" with all the studying for his Professional Engineering exam this coming Friday, says to one (ever-so patient) wife, "Wow, you're all about the potential points tonight." Hmm...potential points?

Moments later when asked why the wife's face may itch so much, husband replies, "Maybe you're growing hair like mine." Did he really just say that?

Fast forward to 7:30am--

One little-big girl, Addy, awoke early and snuggled with her mama exchanging noses and ears and giggles. We talked of the day and I reminded Addy that is was Monday. She responded, "Oh Mom, it's cleaning day!" And then, I told her that we had new pink rubber gloves to wear. Then came a squeal.

Suddenly, the quiet static hum from Anna's monitor was shattered with "Whe' arr ew, Mama, Whe' arr ew." Again and again. "Mama, whe' arr ew?"

Addy and I listened and giggled some more. Addy then charged up the stairs shouting our traditional, "Rise and shine the light has come. Rise and shine the light has come." I paused at the door to listen to the girls giggle together and heard Addy ask "Who is the light?"

All together we shouted "Jesus!"

Before breakfast Addy insisted on stopping in their room to pick out clothes for day - everything pink to go with her gloves.

At breakfast Addy prayed, "Dear Jesus our Lord, we thank you for the blessings on our food and for pink undies and pink pants and a pink shirt to go with our new pink gloves. And thank you for Mama's old gloves and for everything. And our food. In Jesus name, Amen."

To be a fly on the wall...

Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
and his glory will be seen upon you.
And nations shall come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your rising.

Isaiah 60:1-3
